Services & Assessments
Cognitive Assessments
Cognitive assessments ("IQ tests") help individuals understand their cognitive strengths and areas for growth, focusing on processing speed, working memory, visual-spatial skills, fluid reasoning, and verbal comprehension. Cognitive assessment can help identify underlying challenges affecting academic performance, emotional regulation, learning difficulties or giftedness. They can help with understanding how an individual processes information to support a more supportive and effective learning or working environment.
Specific Learning Disorder (SLD)/ Educational Assessment
Educational assessments help identify challenges in areas like reading, writing, and maths, helping to pinpoint the root causes of difficulties. SLD diagnoses can provide a foundation for tailored interventions, accommodations, and support plans to empower individuals to succeed in school and beyond. Reports can support applications for accommodations in schools or workplaces.
ADHD Assessments
ADHD assessment helps identify whether a child or adult's challenges with focus, impulsivity, and hyperactivity are related to ADHD. Assessment enables access to tailored support, such as behavioural strategies, educational accommodations, or medication (in consultation with a doctor).
Counselling & Intervention
Bec's counselling approaches and behavioural interventions are dedicated to empowering individuals. Bec recognises and celebrate diverse ways of thinking, learning, and experiencing the world, making every effort to provide a safe, inclusive space for clients of all neurotypes.
Counselling is available for individuals, as well as for parents seeking new strategies and a compassionate, non-judgmental space to better support their children.

I'm Bec and I strive to combine my skills in psychology with a warm and playful approach to help my clients of all ages. I have a passion for working with individuals to uncover their unique strengths and understand their challenges.
I can't wait to meet you!
-
How long is your waitlist? Most new clients are currently able to have a first appointment within four weeks.
-
How long does it take to receive a report? It typically takes about 2 to 3 months from the first appointment to receive the report and feedback. This timeframe allows Bec to carefully review all information and provide a comprehensive report with appropriate recommendations.
-
Can I get Medicare, NDIS or Health Insurance rebates?Medicare rebates are not available for assessments at Sparkle Psychology. If you present a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan referral for counselling, you will be able to claim eligible sessions. Bec is able to see self-funded NDIS participants. We recommend you check with your LAC to ensure you are able to access psychology services in your plan. Check with your private health insurance provider to see if they offer rebates for these types of psychological assessments. Clients are responsible for lodging Medicare and private health insurance claims for themselves.
-
Do you work with adults?Bec works with clients of all ages, starting from age 6 and up.
-
Are you a clinical psychologist?Bec is a generally registered psychologist, not a clinical psychologist. Clinical psychologists complete additional years of supervised practice to earn that title. Bec is currently undergoing a similar program of supervised practice to become an Educational and Developmental Psychologist.
-
Can you prescribe medication if you diagnose ADHD?Psychologists cannot prescribe medications. However, you can take the ADHD diagnosis report to your GP, who can refer you to a psychiatrist or pediatrician (for children).
-
Do you provide counselling or intervention?Yes! Please send Bec an email to discuss whether she can support you with your concerns.
-
What is your cancellation policy?A minimum of 2 full business days' notice is required for cancellations to allow the appointment slot to be offered to another client. Unfortunately, refunds cannot be issued for cancellations made within 2 business days.
